Salt + Pepper Mills

Start by learning the basics of spindle turning on the lathe.  Use roughing gouges, spindle gouges, and carbide tools to shape the wood, then learn to sand and finish the surface. 

Use your new skills to make a salt or pepper mill, and get creative with the shape.  The wood blanks will be pre-cut to 8" lengths and pre-drilled.  If you're an intermediate or advanced student, you can skip the intro lesson and drill out the mill from a solid wood blank, and choose your own length.  At the end, students will assemble the hardware on the inside and take home a functioning salt or pepper mill.
