  • Ever wanted your own fancy pen? Learn how to use roughing gouges, spindle gouges, and carbide tools to shape the wood.  At the end, assemble the pieces with gold, silver, or copper hardware.  Go home with a functioning pen and instructions on how to change the ink!

Magic Wands

  • Never turned on the lathe before, or interested in learning a new woodturning skill? This class is for you! Learn all about fingernail gouges and carbide tools.  Start by practicing beads and coves, the foundation of woodturning. Then, learn to drill a secret compartment into the wood. Get immediate satisfaction when it comes off the lathe and you have a magic wand!  String is included. You can make the shape as simple or detailed as you would like.

Salt + Pepper Mills

  • Start by learning the basics of spindle turning on the lathe. Then, use your new skills to make a salt or pepper mill, and get creative with the shape.  The wood blanks will be pre-cut to 8" lengths and pre-drilled.  If you're an intermediate or advanced student, you can skip the intro lesson and drill out the mill from a solid wood blank, and choose your own length.  At the end, students will assemble the hardware on the inside and take home a functioning salt or pepper mill.

Open Studio Classes

  • Want space to do your own thing? These sessions are recommended for people who have turned on the lathe at least once before. Come to studio with an idea or just to play on the lathe, and stay for as little or as long as you want! This is a safe environment for people historically not welcome or comfortable in the woodworking community.  

    You can bring your own wood, or browse my shop full of wood in various sizes and varieties for a discount. I also have tools to cut wood down to the specific size you need. My shop includes many kits you can purchase, such as pen, peppermill, and bottle stopper kits.
